    finally- NO lines in carpet!

I'm a neat freak. I also have three cats, three birds, a husband who works from home, and a six-year-old. So, needless to say, I've gone through a lot of vacuums. I now have a Dyson, but it's a bit of a bear at times, and to be honest, I'm not always sure it does such a great job on my carpets.I have to admit, when I tried the Panasonic, I couldn't tell the immediate difference. I called in my mom, another neat freak (she's taught me all my tricks) and she wanted to give it a whirl. She loves to vacuum. I know that sounds weird to non-vacuumers, but it's her thing. She LOVED this vacuum. LOVED it. This woman has test drove or owned every vacuum on the market and she was absolutely thrilled with the Panasonic. Her take:- It's little easier to handle, but not so lightweight that it's flimsy.- The attachments are on board and easy to pull out and us.- The long, retractable cord is GREAT. No more extension cords and having to wrap... 5/5 Chel Micheline "Chel Micheline" (Southwest Florida) - See all my reviews, August 16, 2012

Nice Vacuum For The Price... But A Few Drawbacks

Yay, a purple vacuum! Let's talk about the good & the bad.Good:*Strong suction... quite powerful*Bagless system; dumping the dirt is easy*Nice tools for different types of cleaning, and convenient storage ON the vacuum unit for these tools*Internal cord storage*Quieter than my old vacuum by a few decibels*Lighter weight than my old vacuum, though still a bit cumbersome*Doesn't tip over easilyBad:*No "headlight" for vacuuming in dark corners*The cord does not automatically extend when you need it to. Kind of a pain, that.*Powerful suction is not friendly on certain surfaces. Avoid tasseled rugs!*Optional tools are tricky to clean, especially when they've sucked up a lot of hair*The hose is too short and makes vacuuming my stairs a tricky task. (I may buy an extension.)*When trying to extend the flexible hose, sometimes instead of extending, it just ends up pulling the vacuum unit along... 4/5 Molly P. Durability Lacking

UPDATE:I'm no longer feeling the love for the Panasonic Jet Force. While it still vacuums well (that can is still getting filled, so that's a good thing), the signs of the overall durability of this vacuum are beginning to show...and it's not a pretty sight. First off, the brush mechanism of the vacuum is beginning to make a "clicking" noise. I thought something got caught in there, so I tried to take off the bottom so I could clean off the brush mechanism. To my surprise, you cannot open or clean the brush mechanism. With the Dyson, the unit is completely detachable for easy cleaning. Because I can live with a little noise, I carried on. Not too long after that, I noticed the vacuum started sounding louder - almost as if it's working a LOT harder to suck. Again, not a huge issue, considering vacuums are loud, I can live with that.I cannot live with the fact that the brushes still spin while the unit is standing upright though. On my old Dyson, if I was... 3/5 Katherine Chan (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews, August 3, 2012

Partially layman's physics; partially philosophy and history

About half of this book discusses the cutting edge of physics (with the necessary history) regarding the fate of the universe, and in particular, how vacuum (nothingness) in its modern quantum understanding plays a central role in the universe's evolution and ultimate future. The other half of this book is about philosophical issues such as the history of the concept of nothing and the number zero, the religious concepts of the history and future of the universe, and the mathematical history of zero and infinity. As the previous reviews of this book, and indeed, its subtitle "Vacuums, Voids, and the Latest Ideas about the Origins of the Universe" imply, this should have been a book about Physics and in particular, the physics of vacuums (quantum zero-point energy). One would expect a detailed treatment of this, without the extensive digressions from the primary topic. If that is what you are expecting, you will be disappointed; it is why I rate this book three... 3/5 Doug310 (New York City, NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Book of Nothing: Vacuums, Voids, and the Latest Ideas About the Origins of the Universe (Hardcover) About half of this book discusses the cutting edge of physics (with the necessary history) regarding the fate of the universe, and in particular, how vacuum (nothingness) in its modern quantum understanding plays a central role in the universe's evolution and ultimate future. How nothing became something

"Nothing is Real." --The Beatles, "Strawberry Fields Forever"As quoted by Professor Barrow on page 8, this is a pun on what the Beatles had in mind, and is in essence what this book is all about. Nothing is real in the sense that it is no longer the nothing that it once was. It is actually "something." On the next page, to further illustrate the point, Barrow quotes the lyric from Freddie Mercury (of Queen), "Nothing really matters." It does indeed! The impetus for this, Barrow's latest book on cosmology, seems to be the growing realization that the vacuum of space ("nothing") is not entirely empty, and in fact cannot in principle ever be empty. As Barrow explains in Chapter 7, "The Box that Can Never Be Empty," it would be a violation of the Uncertainty Principle because, "If we could say that there were no particles in a box, that it was completely empty of all mass and energy," we would have "perfect information about motion at every point and about the... 5/5 Dennis Littrell (SoCal/NorCal/Maui) - See all my reviews, July 9, 2001

    Tour de Zero

An English don has written a tome about Nothing. It consists of 280 pages of text, 20 pages of quotes, 100 or so diagrams, followed by 50 pages of notes. Sounds like a cure for insomnia? You'll be mistaken, for Barrow takes us on a delightful journey through the history and science of Nothing. He traces the development of the mathematical zero in from ancient Babylonia and India to today's null graphs- a "pointless concept". The author also explains the old and modern theories and creation of physical void (e.g. Ether, vacuums, zero-point energy) , in the layman's language. Of course, as an erudite tour guide he has to discuss the philosophy behind it all while quoting from just about any source-newspaper advertisements to obscure thinkers. I do have a couple of quibbles about the book. One chapter less on vacuum would have better served the flow of ideas. The philosophical development of zero/shunya didn't stop in Asia as soon as they exported it to Europe. Buddhists... 5/5 Arun Rajagopalan (Troy, NY USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: The Book of Nothing: Vacuums, Voids, and the Latest Ideas About the Origins of the Universe (Hardcover) An English don has written a tome about Nothing. 0 5/5 Woodlandflower "woodlandflower" (North Carolina) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Sulky Blendables Thread for Sewing, 500-Yard, Hydrangea (Misc.) I purchased a spool of this thread a couple of years ago for an applique project.I love the colors in this thread. It's actually a bit "pinker " than the photo appears, so I was concerned that it had changed and wouldn't match the thread spool I had been using. It's a perfect match, however, and I'm able to continue without a problem.I am very pleased. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 21, 2014

This was ordered to refill previous spool. I have every color of Blendables threads and use them often. They do cause a lot of fuzz in sewing machine so frequent brushing of feed dogs and around needle is required. Colors are grand. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 8, 2014
