    Fights Fur Furiously

We just got our . It was simple to setup and charged in about two hours. We have run it once downstairs and upstairs.THE PLANThe plan is to run it during the day upstairs and to run it at night downstairs. The first problem we noted is that the schedule only seems to allow one time per day. This is ok since we have to carry it upstairs for the day runs. So, we just start it as we live in the morning. When we return, we put on the charger and let it clean at 2AM downstairs.OBSERVATIONSThe upstairs (approx. 1000 sqft) is a combination of wood floors, tile in the bathrooms, scatter rugs (bath style and oriental). Roomba did a good job covering an awkward area. We captured a full bin of hair from the dogs. The only problem is that it got caught in the... 5/5 Jack V. Roomba 650 vs Neato XV-11

I have had the roomba 650 for about a year now and just got the XV-11 so I thought it might be good to let people know my experience with the 2. First let me say that I am a BIG fan of both but I will compare/contrast the 2 and hopefully help you decide if you are on the fence.Cleaning: Both of them do a very nice job of cleaning and you will be surprised by how much dirt/dust/pet hair etc you get. While they are pretty even on this i give a slight edge to the XV-11 as it is a bit more powerful and will pick up "clinging" stuff better than the roomba. Both dust bins are comparable (in volume) with the Roomba being a bit bigger and easier to empty due to the XV-11 having to have the filter removed to empty. Not a big deal but Roomba a bit easier to empty. Winner = Tie.2.) Battery life. Roomba wins here hands down with battery life, with a catch... The roomba easily runs 45 mins - 1.5 hours on a charge. Both will need a bin emptying either half way... 5/5 coolhandluke2222 "coolhandluke2222" (Florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: iRobot Roomba 650 Vacuum Cleaning Robot for Pets (Misc.) Love it...wish I hadn't waited so long to get one.

I don't have to vacuum anymore and my floors have never been so clean. I scheduled it to run every day. It is amazing how much dust and other debris this thing picks up. All it takes is a 5 minute clean up of the Roomba each day-dump the bin, shake out the filter and clean the 2 rollers. It runs just over an hour before going back to base to charge. I have a large house, I run it in the main living area each day, and I move it manually to other parts of my house about 2x a month. My father bought one instanty after seeing how well mine cleaned-he is very critical of everything, but has no complaints about his 650. My 3 year old daughter & I named it Rico-she loves watching daddy's "robot" run around the house. It is much quieter than a conventional vacuum-I can watch TV while it runs, but I schedule it to run after I leave in the morning.A couple of tips:Vacuum one time yourself before setting this thing loose-it makes a world of difference in the performance.Pick... 5/5 Rowe - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 drexel75 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaner (Home) I used to have to vacuum everyday because of dog hair. Now this roomba does it for me and gets the carpets a whole lot cleaner than my other vacuum.EDIT: One year later and this baby keeps ticking. This is by far the best purchase i have made of my entire life. Im not kidding. I have a German Shedder that keeps the floor covered in hair and this thing takes care of it. Refurbished? only difference is i got a better deal. Ive dropped this thing numerous times and it keeps ticking. spilled stuff on it. you name it. Just needs maintenence to keep it clean - the brushes collect hair after a while. Im only on my second filter - they last a long time. Its about time to change the brushes but it still works like a charm.Summary: If you have a bad shedding animal then this item will change your life. no more vacuuming everyday. You do have to empty it everyday but thats easy to do. Buy this now if you got fur problems. It cleans the floor like you wouldnt believe. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 8, 2012

    like it a lot

0 4/5 Gary "GR" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaner (Home) The pros:You can schedule it to clean and never touch it again except to empty the dirt.It does a good job of cleaning hardwood floors on my main level (kitchen, hall, living and dining rooms), moves around furniture nicely, and is reliable. The floor never looks dirty or dusty, and there is always a good deal of dirt in the unit to empty indicating that it works.Ihe Cons:It is a little loud, and more importantly it tends to climp up the leg of a coffee table and just shut off.I do recommend the unit, it saves me a great deal of effort every week. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 26, 2011

    Proven to work

I already owned two refurbished 560s, When I bought them last year I went with pre-own because I did not want to waste too much money if they turned out to be mere toys. Now I am sufficiently assured with their performance that I went ahead and bought two more. Why refurbished? Because:1. At the time that I bought them they were at about the same price point as the newer Roomba 630, but 560 has scheduler, and iRobot no longer sell new 560s.2. I figured if any of them start to fail, I could scavenge the parts since I already owned two.3. The two units I bought from a year ago were still going strong, and could run for two hours straight. So their reliability and usefulness were proven.4. Not sure about other sellers, but I bought from Otter Creek Trading: fast shipping with 3-month warranty by iRobot,Last year, one of the two 560s came with the new AeroVac upgrade. This year, both 560s came with AeroVac dust bin. Other than that,... 5/5 Philip K - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great but not perfect ***Downgraded Star Rating***

My wife and I decided to get one of these because our 8 month old son is about to start crawling. While we try and keep our floors clean, our beagle has other thoughts as she sheds all over the place. We went with the latest 560 model as it has just about everything we would want with a product like this. It works as advertised and we will definitley keep it but there are some areas that need improvement. Here is a quick breakdown of the pros and consPros1. Quieter than a standard vaccuum2. Seems to learn the room dimensions quickly. The virtual walls and lighthouse feature are very nice.3. Is "smart" enough to avoid getting tangled in our area rugs4. Obviously easy to use as it is just a push of a button (or even better when you program it)5. Can use everyday to keep the floors spotless6. Have successfully used it on hard wood, vinyl, carpet and (accidently) concrete7. Cleans... 4/5 M. Kelley "mpkelley20" (MA United States) - See all my reviews, September 16, 2007

A Worthy Successor to the Roomba Line

We have two Roombas plus a Scooba in our house. When one of the batteries on one of our Roombas finally reached the end of its life cycle, we decided to donate that Roomba to a friend and to get ourselves the new top of the line - the Roomba 560. We got this right when it first came out, but we waited several months before posting a review. It's pretty much impossible to review one of these Roombas after only a few days! It takes weeks if not months to start to see how well they last over time, and what breaks down. Believe me - been there, done that.So now it's many months later, and I have to say, we are quite pleased with the improvements of this Roomba over the previous generations of Roombas. So first, for those who don't even have ANY Roomba yet (hard to believe!). Roombas are awesome. We have cats, and we work from home so we're home all day. It is AMAZING how much dirt and dust and junk collects in the carpet every single day. Who really has time to vacuum their... 5/5 Lisa Shea "be the change you wish to see in t... - See all my reviews, December 12, 2007

Beware of the "new" Roomba 560 now only for single room (updated review)

UPDATE 12/19/2011My review in late 2007 describing the red side brush "amputee" problem and poor customer support is still the highest rated critical response on Amazon. Because of that experience, the recounting of which is in the original review appended below after this update, I had not bought an iRobot product in over four years. Now I have bought two "new" 560s, which arrived today (more about "new" below). This update is primarily for (i) previous owners of a 560 that are contemplating buying a "new" 560 or (ii) those that have information on the original 560 and mistakenly believe that this is what they will get if they order a "new" 560.If it were not for the problems discussed in this update, I would raise my rating to 3.5 stars. Once again, I think iRobot may be shooting itself in the foot. And what upsets me is that I really want to see this company succeed.By way of disclosure I have owned several of every generation of Roomba.
