    Installed and functioning perfectly

I am in the process of setting up a 50 gallon fresh water aquarium that had been in storage for over a year, and decided to replace my power heads in the process. I had never heard of this brand, but they are virtually identical to the TopFin units I had and went on just as easily. There were no instructions in the box, so I had to scratch my head for a bit on a few issues. First, I always use the little air injector tubes so one must pull off the tiny caps and install the clear air line on each power head. At the other end of the air line is a small knob that one can supposedly turn to vary the air volume. This sorta works, but it's mostly just high/slightly less high. It's okay. Then, there are two fat gray hoses that come with, and frankly I have no idea what setup would require these. My power heads set on top of the riser tubes from my undergravel filter plate, which were cut about 2.5 - 3 inches below the water's surface. These units sat down on those, and stick to the back... 5/5 R. Seehoffer "Author" (Mesa, AZ) - See all my reviews, August 22, 2013

0 5/5 chowmac "chowmac" (San Antonio TX) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Aquatop PH-8 Power Head (Misc.) I have been using this powerhead for since November. I have bought another generic brand from ebay claiming to have the same output but it didn't. This powerhead from Aquatop is working very well, powerful but not too much for my 46 bowfront. It's fully submersible and be sure to let the cap off if you have air crept in it to generate pressure. I'd recommend it to other. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 1, 2012

    2 Years and Running

0 5/5 maruf82 - See all my reviews This review is from: Aquatop PH-8 Power Head (Misc.) I have two of these powerheads and have been running them non-stop for last 2 years and they have held well. They were first being used as powerheads for my undergravel filter in a cichlid tank for a year. Now I am using them in my saltwater tank: 1 as a circulating pump, and 1 as a submersible pump in my sump. At 24" head you wouldn't expect much flow from a low GPH pump like this (I think Aquatop lists it as max 20" head), but it's still creating just the right level of flow for my sump. Overall very impressed with the quality and low price. I have purchased several other Aquatop products since then. I also have a maxiJet 400 and I would say this is comparable. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 8, 2014

    whoa..........

0 4/5 Scotty - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 800 GPH Powerhead Aquarium Pump Wave Maker (Misc.) Ya, it's too much for a 29 gallon. My fish look like they're at an amusement park on a water ride. It was the same price for this one as it was for the one with half the gph, so silly frugal me, I bought this one thinking my tank could handle it. My fish can only swim on one side of the tank now hahahaha. I think what I'm going to do is put this one in my sump and get a smaller one for up top. Whoever said this is good for 50-90 gallon is probably right. I'm like Captain James T Kirk & Mr. Scott on Star Trek, MORE POWER!!! lol This will blow your anemones and corals right off the rock if you're not careful & one is probably enough I think.-------------Edit: I don't like complaining, but I took away 1 star. The only reason I did this is because the cord is the shortest cord of all my devices. It's really short. It's so short, I have to buy an extension cable exclusively for this item. They could have added a few more feet and it would have been "acceptable". 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 20, 2013

    A MUST-HAVE for aquariums

This powerhead is a great thing to have for your aquarium if the tank is between 55-90 gallons. It really packs a punch for its size, and has the capacity to move a lot of water fairly quickly. It can also be used in smaller aquariums too, because the waterflow on this powerhead is ADJUSTABLE (a feature that is rarely seen on other powerheads) - it can filter 300 g.p.h. or adjusted to filter only a trickle. So this can be a used in aquariums under 55 gallons too. This also has another unique feature - a REVERSE-FLOW option - so the powerhead can also take water from close to the surface and move it through the gravel in the opposite direction. Whichever method of gravel filtration you prefer, this powerhead can accommodate you.It comes with tubes that provide for the option of additional airation through the spout. So if you have a big aquarium loaded with oxygen hungry fish, these powerheads can provide lots of water surface agitation, water airation with... 5/5 NFL Fanatic (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: AquaClear 70 Powerhead, 400 Gallons per Hour, UL Listed (Misc.) Much quieter than Penguin 660

0 4/5 Shawn M Cordy - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: AquaClear Powerhead 20 - 110 V, 127 Gallons per Hour (Misc.) I love this pump so far. The Aquaclear 20 is perfect for a 29 gallon tank. Previous Penguin powerhead was awful. A pet store recommended and ordered the 660 for my 29 gallon tank. It was way too much power with no way to adjust the output. My fish were getting blown around the tank. Even worse was the vibration. Even tried rocks on top of the cover to stop the rattling. Down graded to 4 stars because the bubble valve doesn't adjust to a tiny amount of bubbles without spurting them out off and on again. You either get spurts or a LOT of bubbles. To be fair the Penguin air valve was fancier but didn't work any better. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 13, 2010

0 5/5 Jim B. (SouthCarolina) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: AquaClear Powerhead 20 - 110 V, 127 Gallons per Hour (Misc.) Nice powerhead. Using it on an undergravel filter in a 29 gal tank. It's very quiet and has an airtube for the venturi. If it wasn't for the bubbles that I let come out I wouldn't hear it at all, but then again, it is submerged. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 30, 2011

    Working great so far

0 5/5 chris - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Cobalt Aquatics Power Head/Pump MJ1200 (Misc.) Pros: I've been running this for about 2 1/2 months and it seems great so far. I did a lot of pricing before settling on this pump. I used it just for circulation in my 90 Gallon. Now I use it as biopump in my quarantine tank. It makes ZERO sound. Price to GPH ratio it seems like the best option. I have the 1200 model.Cons:Non so far. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 25, 2013

The "Maxi Jet" version is made elsewhere to lesser standards

0 5/5 Amazon Customer (South Dakota) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cobalt Aquatics Power Head/Pump MJ1200 (Misc.) When the "Maxi Jet" branding went away from the product that made them famous opting instead to pay less for a less quality product Cobalt aquatics picked up the rights to sell the original under the MJXXX moniker. Thus, this is the "original" maxijet, just sold by a different compnay. The new maxijets are made to lesser standards, thus why everyone has issues with noise and rattling.Cheers. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 27, 2012

    Great pump

0 5/5 Hopels (East Coast) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cobalt Aquatics Power Head/Pump MJ1200 (Misc.) I went through 4. Yes 4 maxi jet 1200's for my aquaC remora skimmer. I will be buying another for my other skimmer! Not sure if maxi jet rebranded or what but these are great pumps. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 12, 2012
