Dust Buster - Vacuum Cleaners

Most Anticipated Films of 2015

However, 2015 has a massive movie slate prepared, and there are just so many coming out that I’m looking forward to this year that I have to talk about it. I’ve decided to make a list of the movies that I’m looking forward to the most this year. Reed’s resume thus far isn’t very impressive in my opinion, but from what I’ve heard, this movie is going be something to look forward to. Marvel Studios already proved themselves capable of taking an unknown franchise and making it into something... Iron Man taking on the Hulk in the Hulk-Buster, Captain America’s unbreakable broken shield, Thor strangling Tony Stark, Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch, and Ultron. I know that this movie doesn’t have as much going for it as the other movies featured on this list, but as a huge fan of the first two  Terminator  , is returning to helm this new film, and Daniel Craig is returning as 007. Sign me up. I don’t know much about the plot of this new film, and honestly, I don’t need to. I don’t even need a trailer. Series creator George Miller has been working to get this project going for years, and it looks as though his hard work is going to pay off. The special effects used to give actress Alicia Vikander the look of a humanoid robot look great, and as if all of that wasn’t enough, bringing Oscar Isaac into the picture was the final straw to make  Ex Machina  , which debuted at Comic Con this... With  Sea of Trees , it looks like he’s continuing to wipe his hands clean of all of the rom-coms he used to do and leave his old career in the dust. This thing looks like the most terrifying thing we’ve seen in the MCU thus far. Normally, I’d be nervous about this year living up to the high standards that last year set. If I had to pick an order for my most anticipated films of 2015,  The Force Awakens  director Alejandro González Iñárritu is directing this western revenge tale starring Leonardo Dicaprio as a fur trapper who is injured by a bear while hunting,... There haven’t been any trailers or promotional images released for this film yet, but I don’t need any of them. Without any further ado, here are the films that I am looking forward to the most in 2015, in no particular order:. The cinematography is beautiful, complimenting the trailer’s dark tone (by the way, I’ll never be able to hear “I’ve Got No Strings” from  Pinocchio  the same way ever again). There is simply not enough that I can say about how much I’m looking forward to seeing this film. It looks as though this film is going to hold some serious consequences for the future of the MCU. While no specific release date has been given yet, I know that I’ll be waiting anxiously to see Scorsese’s next film. Initially, Edgar Wright, one of my favorite directors, was signed on to direct this film, but he dropped out. Bring in Tom Hardy as the titular character, and just like that, I’m in. The tone is dark and moody, which is exactly the kind of tone that I think the MCU should adopt – it would provide a welcomed change of pace for the franchise. Secondly, I’m sure that some of the movies listed here (hopefully not many) will be less than stellar, but I’m still looking forward to them nonetheless. An official trailer hasn’t even been released yet, but it’s clear that it’s going to have his signature style with clever and smart dialogue and visceral, over-the-top violence. His voiceover in the trailer alone was enough to sell me on the idea of a robot being the main villain for this film. The cinematography looks excellent, and I’m excited to see what first-time director Alex Garland can bring. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens movie that we’ve gotten in over 30 years. Here’s a teaser trailer that was recorded by a moviegoer when it premiered before last year’s  Sin City: A Dame to Kill For This movie looks action-packed and intense, with some dark humor being thrown in for good measure. The trailer alone was enough to hook me. I love the dark, eerie tone that it set. Not only is the director a master at his craft, but the cast features two of my favorite actors: Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hardy (marking his second appearance on this list. Hell, I didn’t even need to see a trailer to be pumped for this thing. One thing’s for sure though: it’s going to be great. This trailer looks incredible. If the only thing that I had been told about this film was that he was the director, I would have been sold.   Age of Ultron  is one of my most anticipated of this year. However, I’m worried as to how drastically they’re going to change the timeline with this film. I’m pretty sure this movie is going to be amazing. You don’t need me to tell you that Scorsese is one of the greatest directors who ever lived. The last shot in the trailer where Ultron says “There are no strings on me,” literally gave me chills. The film is about a young FBI agent, played by Emily Blunt, who goes undercover to take down a Mexican drug lord, which ends up pushing her to her moral limits. I can’t wait to see how Tatum will work with Tarantino’s directing style, and delivering his dialogue. My anticipation for this is solely based off of the trailer that was released a few months ago. Granted, not everything that will be released this year has been announced, so bear that in mind when you read this list. I have no doubt that this movie is going to be nothing short of incredible.

Dustbusters have come a long way

I've owned some type of Dustbuster/handvac for the last twenty years and I don't think I've ever ever had one that I didn't hate. Too little suction power, not enough charge time, the suction nozzle is awkward to use, and the batteries are always dead after a couple minutes. I can keep them plugged into the wall all the time, but that kills the battery and wastes electricity. I have found it much more effective to just use the suction hose on my upright, even though that means lugging my vacuum around. So I decided to see what is new in handvac technology and if they have improved at all over the last ten years. Fortunately, I can say that they have. The Black and Decker 14.4v Lithium Ion DustBuster is the same handvac as the except it contains a Lithium-Ion... 5/5 Scott - See all my reviews, January 24, 2012

    The best hand-held vacuum ever!

I have had several hand-held vacuum cleaners and Dustbusters over the years. They all had one glaring problem - the battery. Battery life is not very long on these devices, and that is to be expected, but once the battery is completely depleted (which if it is a NiCad, it should always be depleted), it takes many hours (sometimes an entire day) to recharge. And since you shouldn't recharge the battery unless it is completely depleted, you most often have a device that is never fully charged, and thus will only run for a few minutes at a time. This new Dustbuster eliminates that problem by using a Lithium-Ion battery. Not only does it hold a charge much longer, it recharges VERY quickly. Best of all, you can leave it in the charger all the time, so your Dustbuster is always fully charged and ready to go. And you don't have to wait until the battery is completely depleted either. Besides that great feature, virtually everything else (the extending nozzle, brush attachment, rotating... 5/5 William G. Nyilas (NORTH BABYLON, NY USA) - See all my reviews, January 25, 2012

Black and Decker CHV1410L 14.4-Volt Lithium Ion Dust Buster (Misc.)

Once I received my "new" Lithium Ion Dust Buster, I have to agree with the majority of the reviews. This dust buster was well designed, easy to operate, great suction, easy to clean and most of all, the battery life is fantastic. I've had Nicad dust busters in the past and they just don't last very long and our most recent one the charger burned out. Right now, the only negative (and this has been pointed out by other reviewers) is the bright blue LED charging light. This light is flashing while in charge mode and steady when fully charged. It's best to keep this charger in a room where you won't see it if you're trying to sleep, eat or watch TV - a bit obnoxious. This light is too bright. A non-LED light would have made more sense. We can deal with the light issue so this product gets a full 5 stars. I would also recommend that Amazon make available the filter that goes with this hand vac. the one's shown do not fit this unit. Kicks Kitty Litter - Old School Style!

For years, I've been waiting for a "new" "old school" Dustbuster to come back. This is it! Forget the models with the super-duper crevice tools and telescoping blah blah blah. This is the simple, no nonsense Dustbuster you remember, but stronger. I got the 9.6V and it works well (only five dollars more than the less powerful model that's one step down). I use it for pet cleanup, specifically the dreaded task of cleaning kitty litter around the box and up the stairs. This little one does the job handily. The vac is strong, so if you angle it a certain way, the 'blowback' from the vac can blow the dirt particles away, but that isn't too much of a problem if you have a reasonable IQ and aren't blowing only feathers or dandelions with it! It does have a Ni-Cad battery, which means if you use it for 30 seconds and then plop it back on the charger, the battery will "remember" that charge and whittle your battery life down to nothing over time. Other models... 4/5 Charlotte Gal (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Black & Decker BDH9600CHV 9.6V Cordless Hand Vac (Misc.) I'm Obssessed with this

I normally wait a little longer to rate and item but I really like this. I actually bought this with low expectations based on some other reviews but I am very happy. I use it every day! I use it in the kitchen for crumbs mostly and around the rest of the house for just general dirt. It's also very handy to suck up bugs that make their way in. I have had no issue picking anything up EXCEPT pet hair that is on a couch. It does nothing for that, but that's not why I bought this, I have something else for that. It will get pet hair tumbleweeds though! I was also impressed when it picked up actual dust on a bookshelf. I just thought I would test it out on a shelf that had a thin layer of dust and it picked it up. I don't tend to use it for that purpose, seems like the rag is faster but I was impressed that it picked it up. So far I have had no issues with the battery life or any other function. I'll update the review if anything goes downhill.Update 9/09/14: This is still... 5/5 christie311 (Ohio) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) It was difficult to find a good cordless hand vac with wall mount, but this one has been great. We mainly use it to clean up scattered cat litter from ceramic tile. It is powerful enough to do this and easy to empty. We only use it a couple of minutes at a time, but it does not lose any power during that time. it sits snugly in the wall mount and is easy to take out and put back in. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 10, 2014

Works well, but the Lithium-Ion version of this Dustbuster is better

I borrowed this Dustbuster in order to compare it to the that I recently purchased, which is the exact same except for the type of battery it uses. This Dustbuster uses a Nickel-cadmium (NiCad) battery, compared to a Lithium Ion (LIB) battery in the other version. I put them through the same testing and evaluated them on how well the products work as a handheld vacuum, and then how the two compared to each other. As vacuums, they both performed surprisingly well compared to handheld vacs from 5+ years ago, which I have always hated due to poor battery life and weak suction power. The main problem with older vacs, is that they suffer from "memory effect," which causes products that use NiCad batteries to lose power and charge over time. This is very prevalent with Dustbusters,... 4/5 Scott - See all my reviews, April 20, 2012

    Dust Buster 14.4

I've had 2 Dust Busters for over 20 years. One in my kitchen and one in the bar down stairs. 20 years old and they worked fine. I got used to them running down for 20 seconds and then moving up to speed. Always liked the product. Then about a week ago I visited my daughter and she had a new one. The Dust Buster 14.4 with Cyclonic Action. Wow...it seriously sucked! Could not wait to order one from my friend Amazon. (I love this site) (and no, I don't work for them)! Ordered one and WOW, what a great product. I followed the instructions and charged it up for 24 hours then I used it until the battery died then charged it up again. I love this thing! Its extremely powerful, the long crevice tool has a brush on the end AND it extends about a foot longer if you want. First of all I went and cleaned the ceiling fan in our bedroom. Worked awesome without dragging out the big Vac. Great product and empty's easily. I'm buying another one for my boat where we are always leaving crumbs from toast... 5/5 Ramon V. 0 5/5 Tool Guy (Chapel Hill, NC USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Black+Decker BDH2000PL MAX Lithium Pivot Vacuum, 20-volt (Misc.) My original pivot vac will no longer keep a charge, and I've been looking for a decent replacement. Thank goodness that B&D finally came out with this lithium powered model! It has the rubber flap to keep debris from falling back out, and a charging stand that automatically makes contact and can be wall mounted. It is more powerful, runs much longer, all while being smaller & lighter. The brush pivots up when needed and is never lost. A nice feature is that it comes apart for easy cleaning. Overall a super unit, it wins over the Dyson and Hoover and Shark, by far.Update: Evidently you can replace the battery pack, when needed. Two screws hold on the side cover, and then the battery pack plugs in. Great improvement over earlier models! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 20, 2014

Customer Video Review Length:: 2:51 Mins(Please watch my video to see this product in action)Be prepared to be surprised and meet a new generation of hand vacs. I've lost count of the number of "dustbusters" I've owned and there was not one of them that was designed any different from the first, starting with the plastic snout which snapped into a handle which contained a motor/fan and a cone-shaped filter. They all shared the same downfalls which were an average of 2-3 minutes useful life on a charge, pitifully weak suction, extremely small dust capacity and when the NiCad battery died (which it invariably would after a year or two) the entire thing had to be thrown away because the battery was not replaceable. As recently as only a couple of years ago I searched every conceivable source for a hand vac that was powered by lithium ion batteries, which seemed so obvious because nearly every other device by that time had abandoned the old NiCad battery technology and gone... 5/5 PhotoGraphics (Southwest U.S.) - See all my reviews, April 19, 2014

    A great little vacuum

Two cats and two fabric-covered couches, can you feel my pain? After a while, I was going nuts. I'd go broke buying the adhesive type lint rollers, the rubber ones (search for "sweepa") and the reusable brush type didn't do the job. All I'd heard about was dysons, dysons, dysons, so I started saving. But then I thought, hey, what I want is the little motorized roller brush attachment -- so I got online, started searching, and found this. I figured $40 as opposed to $500 was worth a try, especially with the good reviews.and it *was*. It gets all the cat hair off my couch, and the nice thing is that the hose just tugs right out and you can also get the little cracks and crevices without missing a beat. The "riser visor" thing, I thought was kinda silly til I started using it -- and it's great. Sucking great!

'Caveat emptor' should be a caution against not just unscrupulous sellers, but misguided buyers as well, a self-warning of sorts. To that end, I read all ~1600 reviews of the Eureka, paying special heed to the three percent or so that awarded it one star. Call this a meta review. My conclusion after a complex and detailed statistical and psychological analysis of the complaints is that the hand-held vacuum was being misused, abused in some cases. After a few months of use, I agree with all the positives: Eureka is powerful & easy to use, the brush enhances cleaning power, the canister is a snap to empty, and the filter creates a nice, tight seal. As for the complaints..."Vacuum stopped working after X uses/N years." That was the predominant complaint, sparks and smoke and vacuum broke. Many of the reviewers who sent their Eurekas to the Great Vacuum too soon seemed to be using them as replacements for full-sized vacuum cleaners: three flights of stairs, several area... 5/5 Old Qwfwq (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A Perfect Machine.

I'd planned to get the small Dyson, but the reviews of this vacuum persuaded me to give it a try. It's absolutely excellent. It's the best handheld vacuum I've ever tried, and I've thrown more of these things away than I can remember. Fortunately, I've always saved the attachments. Sometimes they fit another model, sometimes they don't. Since there's no fancy coupling required to attach tools to the hose end of this one, its just friction, most fit it.This is a solid, powerful vacuum. The filter is heavy-duty and seems very durable. It's easily removed and reattached. I use those over-priced compressed air duster cans to blow all the dust and dog hair off of the filter. Between this and my full-size Dyson, there's probably more of the family dog outside the house than in by now. As for the weight of this machine, it is a little heavy, but then I only have to support its weight when doing vertical surfaces or carrying it around. When it's vacuuming stairs and furniture, I... 5/5 Louie (Elk Grove, CA United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Hello Awesomeness!!

I ordered this two days ago and it just arrived today. I was hesitant about the price but decided for the 20-volt Lithium battery that I'd give it a shot. What really inspired me to try the Lithium battery was the fact that the Lithium ones won't lose their memory life when you just leave them sitting on the base charging in between uses.Seriously, how stupid is it that the regular (nickel) batteries do that?!? I mean, where are you supposed to store the thing if not on the charger and you want the thing ready to go when you need it!! Duh.This thing was ready to use straight out of the box. Heck, we hadn't even fully put it together yet and it turned on when I switched it! I ran around the house testing it out on just about everything. Why this just got 5 stars from me:*Our house was built in 1890 meaning there are LOTS of weird nooks and crannies that most things can't reach to. I love the nozzle on this thing because it reaches in those areas. =... 5/5 MamaTaney (Salem, VA USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Battery Last Forever But The Suction Is Weak

I have owned a number of cordless vacuums and have never had one yet that I could whole-heartily recommend. Most fall short because of bad batteries. It is too early to say how this one will be in the "life of the battery" department; but I can say that at least for now, this battery seems to power the unit almost endlessly. It goes at least twice as long as any vac I have ever had. I hope that is still the case 5 years from now.The problem with the vac is; it just does not have enough suction power. In fact, I would say that it is weak. It has no problem picking up a dead bug from the basement floor, but just does not have the power needed to vacuum the car. Any pebble larger than a grain of sand is a challenge for this unit to pickup. It takes some back and forth agitation with the nozzle and or the brush to get the carpet clean of debris. If it can't pickup the stuff you buy a vacuum to pickup; then what good is it?The unit is comfortable and feels well... 3/5 Mr Ranger (Michigan) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This thing sucks!

0 5/5 Jfalcon - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Black & Decker Platinum BDH2000L 20-Volt Max Lithium Ion Cordless Hand Vacuum (Misc.) I used it to pick up dog food, dirt in the corners, cleaned up leaves off the floor in front our plants. It even picked up loose change out of the couch. The best part is the charging stand. It will work no mater which way you set it on the stand. So there's no messing with trying to figure out which way it hooks up to the charger. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 31, 2013

This is great for occasional use, as long as you don't have unrealistic expectations

I really can't believe the "mixed" reviews here. I think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations of what a battery powered hand-vac can do.Power is great for a 9.6 volt tool. Suction is great for 9 volts (yes there are lots of units with stronger batteries thus stronger suction, but also more money). Battery life is great. Capacity is great, holds a lot of debris. Rinsable filter. Easy to operate, not too loud.Sure there are a few minor problems with it. The exhaust fan points at your hand, which is strange (why not point it out the side?). And the nozzle is rounded not pointed, so it has a difficult time in tight corners. (It does come with a water attachment, which is squarish, and can be used in dry corners like carpeted areas, but not tight corners). When I first got it, I tried it around the house - it picks up small nuts & bolts, kids blocks & action figures (accidentally got a couple of those), paper clips, even an eraser. No complaints... 4/5 Mad Max (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews, March 24, 2013

WORKS GREAT! Those w/problems didn't charge it CORRECTLY the first time - *Very Important*

Love it. Works exactly as expected. Lasts longer than my old 4.6 volt Dustbuster. Conveniently stands on it's end, so you can store it upright. The suction is fantastic. Since the exhaust is in the rear, there is very little blowing forward, which can sometimes blow your dust around before you can suck it up.I use mine as a "dustpan", to thoroughly eliminate dust & crud. Also use in bathrooms for quick hair pick up during the week, as well as the pet food areas & litter box. Works great in my car to clean up grass & gravel that the kids drag in.Some folks mentioned that the vacuum didn't last long, or have much suction. I suspect the reason is that they took it out of the box, half charged & used it. Then, after it runs out of juice, plugging it in for a charge. Using it for a FEW MINUTES ONLY and then plugging back in to charge - herein lies the problem. These are nickel-cadmium batteries. Unlike other batteries, they have a built-in... 5/5 Judy Caufield-Grant (Dayton, OH) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Find peace, comfort, tranquility as you suck bugs in your garden

Decent bug-sucker! Works better than the suction tubes actually made for sucking bugs.I purchased this vac because I wanted to use it outside to suck up the insects that pester our tomato plants: Mostly leaffooted bugs and assassin bugs. Hey, it works! We're very happy it works! It sure beats spraying with insecticide, which is expensive, messy and not healthy. And the "swump" sound that sucking bugs makes is truly very satisfying. I arrive home after a tough day at work and a frenzied hour commute on the highway; I change clothes and head outside, happily suck bugs, and find peace. Not knowing if our idea would work--that of getting rid of insects by vacuuming them--we opted to purchase a hand vac whose power was not too low or not too high. Too low and we were afraid it wouldn't suck 'em up. Too high and we were afraid we'd be wasting money if it didn't work.Another reason we chose this model is the dirt cup: The dirt cup is that transparent... 4/5 I Do the Speed Limit (Down US Rt. 59) - See all my reviews, July 18, 2012
