    Excellent for bare floors

My previous vacuum had those motorized brush heads. It was fine, but not having any carpets in the house, I felt I was simply using a machine that had features that I did not used to their full potential. All these features also had a weight that I had to drag around while vacuuming. With this Dirt evil canister model, I had all that I needed: lightweight to quickly pick up dust, dirt and a little bit of dog hair (I have a Lhasa Apso). It's extremly easy to empty as well! Its power cord is fine for me, as I have have read somewhere on the net that some users find of somewhat short. If you have one electric outlet per room, you should be fine. I find it's power to be more than adequate: I was able to pick up some of my dog's food pellets hidden in some corners. I got this item on special at 60$ and I'm more than happy with it! Makes vacuuming much easier, lighter and faster. This model might not be powerful enough if you have a heavy shedding dog... My mom has a Pembroke... 5/5 Q. T. Shockingly light!

0 5/5 eV - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dirt Devil Featherlite Cyclonic Bagless Canister Vacuum, SD40100 (Kitchen) I bought this vacuum cleaner as I had previously had a simmilar model in Germany. I was shocked by how light it is and was not confident in how well it would clean, but it does surprisingly well and after a few days' use, I trust it to last.It sucks well, has small but effective wheels on the sides of the hose at the head which ensure it won't scratch hard flooring and the rubber-ish surface on the two big wheels mean that it moves reliably over my varnished hardwood floor without marking. The little independently rotating wheel underneath, which enables it to move freely in all directions, broke off from my original model in Germany - that does not appear to be any more sturdy on this version, but I'll add a comment later if it happens.Overall, this vacuum cleaner is light and effective, moves well across my hard flooring without marking, and appears to be equally good at cleaning my rugs! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 11, 2012

Now I live in a 2,500 sft home. For the past three years, this vacuum has served our family well. Pros:1. Inexpensive. $40 or less in most places.2. It picks up dirt, fuzz (and legos) as well or better than any other vacuum I've ever used. Really. Just change the bag when it gets full.3. Light weight. It's very easy to manuver and my younger kids can use it.4. Simplicity. This is a basic vac. It's easy to change the bag, wind the cord, and pull hair/crud out of the roller if necessary.5. It's got a bag. This is a personal preference, but every bagless upright I've ever used creates a small dust storm when you empty it. The bag system on this one works well.Cons:1. works fine after a year

0 4/5 R. Wys "R. Wys" (MN, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagged Upright Vacuum, M085590RED (Kitchen) I was suprised to see that some of the other reviews portray this vacuum as useless. I bought mine from Target a year ago and it works wonderfully. Only complaints is that it's still pretty 'clunky' to carry around and that when you want to use the attachments it's hard to get the hose out. I've gone through a Shark brand vacuum that broke after 2 uses and an Orek XL that ate it's own cord but couldn't pick up Cheerios that my daughter spilled. I've had bad luck with vacuums but this one is doing just fine after 200+ uses.Feb. 2013: I just upgraded to a Bissel Trilogy Pet but my Dirt Devil still works wonderfully! Do not buy the canister version of this vacuum though! I've never had to replace the belt on it yet and I did replace the hose two months ago because my husband broke it where it attached to the base but it was a cheap fix. I still say this product is worth purchasing. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 19, 2008

Can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch but breaks

UPDATE After about 5 Months the part of the hose that connects to the motor ( see my pic) has had a piece break off that locks on the little peg; and now the end of the hose has a vertical crack in it where the attachments would connect. My concern all along after assembling this was the durability factor.I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend... 1/5 Gerald Balmes "Jerry B" (Washington) - See all my reviews, October 6, 2009

    This thing sucks

I got this vacuum for thirty bucks so keep that in mind. There are units out there that cost ten times that. So how does the Dynamite Plus stack up? It sucks! Very, very well. I don't think I have ever used a vaccum that had such powerful suction. I bought a Dirt Devil cordless unit (the one that no one seems to like) about a year ago and it was garbage. I wondered if anyone really needed cordless while in the confines of their own home. Most likely not. Why not trade the dubious benefits of cordless for maximum sucking power? For the price there is proably no vacuum made that is more powerful. So why only 4 stars? Despite a vacuum that seems well built, convenient, light, bagless, portable, etc., there is one thing that is insanely ridiculous about the Dynamite Plus' design. All of that powerful suckiing power shoots right out a front grill of the vacuum. Like a tornado!!!! Small and powerful

I was looking for a small, powerful and inexpensive vacuum cleaner, and this is EXACTLY what I got with Dirt Devil Dynamite. I was looking to replace my old stick-type vacuum cleaner which was okay for hardwood, but just too weak to pick up anything from carpet.I already have a fairly large carpet steamer which I regularly use. I didn't want another clunky machine to take up very expensive square footage in my house. I also paid quite a bit for that steamer, so I didn't want to shell out for a vacuum as well. However, I did want a vacuum cleaner with some power to it.1) SMALL: The first thing that caught be by surprise is how remarkably small this vacuum cleaner is. I think the lady in the picture is rather short because the canister part hardly even reaches my kneecaps! Size-wise it almost looks like a child's toy!2) ASSEMBLY: There's virtually no assembly required. So far it seems to be a good value for the money.**** CAUTION:Amazon recommended purchasing replacementbelt and filter with the Dynamite vaccum except that they recommended the WRONG belt and filter. Having not purchased the Dynamite before I went with what Amazon recommended which turned out to be the F-12 belt and F-1 Hepa Filter which are incorrect. The Dynamite vaccum uses a F-15 belt and a F-2 Hepa Filter so be very careful to order the correct belt and filter if you decide to order this vaccum...do not rely on Amazon's recommendations or their customer service. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 23, 2011

    Awesome!

Is it too much to ask for a vacuum to pick up stray pieces of paper, not to spit dirt out the back, and be light? This one fits the bill. I owned a dirt devil featherlite 9 years ago but after my husband touched it after 8 years, it didn't suck much anymore. Up till then it worked great. So I bought a vacuum that cost triple this vacuum thinking more expensive so it should be a wonderful vacuum. NOT! It didn't work well at all. Wouldn't pick up papers and kept shredding paper over the carpet, wouldn't suck it up. It also kept spitting dirt out the back on hard floors, or at least every direction except up the canister. I had a herniated disc for 10 months, every time I used the expensive vacuum, it was so heavy and bulky it kept throwing my back out more and kept me down for a week in pain. I was so happy to see kohl's had the new improved version of my old featherlite. It works as good if not better than the last one I had. It sucks really well. Well worth the money! Best in price range!

OK, first off one of the top reviews says it takes 13 steps to empty. Mine doesn't, it takes TWO! One push the button on top to release the cansiter, two press the button on the side of the canister to open the bottom (over your trash can of course :P). I added pictures illustrating these buttons, plus a picture of all of the dirt! Also, do not expect Dyson fit and finish out of this vacuum. Its in a COMPLETELY different price category. That being said, what it excels at it is being the best vacuum cleaner I have used short of a Dyson. I'll list the pros and cons of this vacuum now; then since the devil (sorry for the pun) is in the details I'll expound on them a bit afterwards.Pros:Suction! Smaller than expected, but a good cleaner.

Despite shipping hiccups and a few cracks in the plastic which were easily repaired with a bit of duct tape, the vacuum is a great little sucker. I have a 2 bed, 2 bath apt. with 2 cats and a large dog, so I have to empty the container a couple times each room. This would be a lot better for an apartment without pets, but in the end it works really well and cleans great, so it doesn't really bother me to empty it often. The suction is pretty amazing, my roommates GF has the original DD Breeze (12 amp, non cyclonic) and this really does a better job, pushes easier, and cleans up more dirt even while only having a 10 amp motor. The tools are simple but work fine as well and the hose connects simply and sturdily. All in all its a great cheap vacuum, I would spend a bit more if I could do it over again and get a heavier duty and larger dirt container vacuum instead. That all said, if you are debating between the ~$50 vacuums, this is probably the one to get as its the latest... 2/5 Jake Smith (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews, August 31, 2012

A Video of the the Dirt Devil Breeze

Customer Video Review Length:: 3:36 MinsThe Dirt Devil Breeze Bagless Vacuum Cleaner is a powerful but lightweight upright vacuum cleaner. I have tried other Dirt Devil upright vacuum cleaners with mixed success. Dirt Devils offer a nice combination of power and value, but I have had issues with quality. The Dirt Devil Breeze seems to follow that pattern. It was easy to assemble and offer plenty of power, but I am afraid that the canister will have issues snapping (and staying) in place.Notes- - The vacuum is lightweight and can be easily lifted with one hand - Limited number of attachments - Actually, it only has one 1 attachment - the attachment for the stairs - Bagless system - all of the debris is trapped in the canister, so the Dirt Devil Breeze does not use a bag. While it does not have bag it does have a washable and reusable filter. - Assembly is simple - it requires a philips head screw driver and about 5 minutes... 4/5 CKE (USA) - See all my reviews, December 8, 2012

    Good for the price

Can't compare this to my old "bag" Electrolux vacuum because it is not heavy duty. But the old vacuum had died and it was getting hard to find bags for it so, I decided to go bagless. For the price this vacuum is good and has good suction action. It is so light, I was afraid to assemble it, because I thought pushing the parts together would crack them. It is VERY light plastic. But, easy to assemble and nothing broke -- so far, anyway. Picks up dirt very well. The only issue is, it is EXTREMELY hard to empty. I think if a person did not have pets, it would be perfect, however since I have quite a few cats and dogs, the hair it picks up gets stuck in the top of the clean-out chamber and requires that I pull out the whole "guts" of the device to get the packed-in hair out. Quite a mess and gets dirt all over the place. So found that it's best to do this outside. Can't simply, "open the bin and dump the picked up dirt in the trash" as the pretty instruction... 3/5 Joyce Anne Laird "writer" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews, January 14, 2013

Great Value - Perfect for shorter pile carpet and bare floors

I received my new Dirt Devil Multi-Cyclonic two days ago. Put it through its paces. It's better made (better build quality) than I thought a Dirt Devil would be. Very impressed. Cord is on the shorter side, but that's a small concession for a very reasonably priced vacuum. The brush bar in the Power Nozzle has some good, and one not so good quality issues. For the good: the belt cannot break (geared belt) with a reset button if it jams. The height adjustment works perfectly, and I'm delighted there's a headlight (although a light on the front is not a deal breaker for me - it is for others). The brush roller is narrow in diameter - so you'll find yourself cleaning hair from it more so than if it was larger in diameter. The opening on the bottom of the Power Nozzle is also narrow - that's to optimize the pick up on bare floors, which it does superbly. I never saw any other power nozzle (with brush in OFF position) pick up as well on bare floors. However, on carpets, it's... 5/5 T. Gasko (st. louis, missouri) - See all my reviews, July 28, 2011

My Love / Hate Relationship with this Vac

Growing up my parents had a very expensive canister vac, and as a young girl I thought it was fun to vacuum, now it's NOT so much fun - and this will take some getting used to before I decide if I like this canister after using uprights for years. I have a 2 year old Dirt Devil upright and it has some similar features as this, such as the one-touch-to-empty dirt cup which I love. In general, uprights are easier to use because you don't have the canister tagging along behind you, getting caught on corners of furniture, and even the walls. However, the uprights are also heavier to push and can't go in every nook and cranny like a canister can. This vacuum was easy to assemble - I didn't bother looking at the instructions to hook-up the handle/wand to the hose, and to the canister, it was easy to figure out just by looking at the various parts and snapping them together. However, as to vacuum use, I did read the manual and I wish they had made it a little easier such as larger... 3/5 Yarii (North of Greentucky) - See all my reviews, September 26, 2011

Dirt Devil Power Reach Multi-Cyclonic Canister - SD40030

Well this is a product from Dirt Devil and the details have been published on DirtDevil's site only 2-3 days back.[...]Its well made, seems strong. The hose swivels at nearly every connection. The lock to leave the power brush upright seems fragile and will probably be the first thing to break. The light does not come on if the brush roll is not on. The vacuum is sufficiently wide, so the suction is not even on the entire width. This will be the problem for vacuums will no powered brushroll. Even on hard surfaces it is better to keep the brush roll on since it helps in picking up something struck beneath furniture..The canister is very easy to clean, cord seems very short and noise level is less than my old bissell bagless. Suction power is quite good. Even though my old bissell also did not loose any suction, it's just a matter of keeping the bagless ones clean. The only cons which I see are1. The attachments are not long... 4/5 Amit Tomar (CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Powerful and lightweight

Our big and heavy Dirt Devil Platinum Force quit after 5 years of service and we decided to try something lighter and much less expensive. The Breeze arrived in 3 days, even with free shipping - thanks Amazon!Assembly was a breeze, just 4 screws. We have over 1500 sq ft of carpeted areas and steps so I put the new vacuum to work.Pros:-- Price (and I also used a gift certificate) - sweet!-- Lightweight! What a difference it makes.-- Very powerful. It sucked a full dirt container from our house.-- Thermal protective device - according to the manual this will shut off the motor to prevent overheating (what our old vacuum did not have)Cons:-- No HEPA filter out of the box but the next time I replace the filter I can get a HEPA filter from Amazon-- To use the hose (on the steps, inside car) I needed to detach the main hose and connect the special hose. But it's cool how you plug-and-twist the hose in... 5/5 customer (Longmont, Colorado) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Breeze is a mixe bag(less) of good and not so good

First off, how do you say "mixed bag" about a "bagless" vacuum? Well however you say it, here is my opinion on it - the good and the bad. I purchased mine as a second vac, and despite past nightmares with entry bagless vacs, wanted something I could empty after each occasional use vs. store away with a partly filled bag.On the pro side: This unit is VERY light in weight. Great for those with arthritis or anyone who is carrying a vacuum up and down stairs. What is not lightweight is the power - it definitely has good suction. I also like the slightly narrower width whem compared to most other vacuums - 13" wide vs the more common 15" wide may not seem like much, but this fits in narrow places yet is still a full power vac.On the neutral side: Emptying is easy, but like most entry level bagless units, the filter is a mess to deal with. Best bet is, from time, use a second vac to clean this units filter, or used canned air outside upwind.Attachments are okay... 3/5 A. Maier (Fort Wayne, IN) - See all my reviews, May 11, 2008

Built Like a Tank, Sounds Like One, Too!

I've had my Dirt Devil Breeze for (3?+) years now (Obviously an older version but based on what I see from the picture nothing had changed much.) Bought this as replacement to a previous vacuum cleaner which had the "fan" (not sure if this is the correct word for it) that was in the path of the dirt (I believe that was a hoover). I used it to pick up some solid object and got stuck in the "fan" which caused it to break on me. The design of the breeze was a lot better since the filter catches objects before it gets to the suction mechanism. Overall, does what its supposed to do.Cons:- The exhaust out in front was definitely a design "duh". But you wouldn't realize it till you use it for picking up light material (e.g. small bird feathers).- Is there an easier way to switch from bottom suction to the onboard tools?- Emptying the canister is definitely a hassle (but sames me money in the long run)- *LOUD* And I cannot say this enough. My unit is a... 2/5 M. LAPITAN (Harrisburg, PA) - See all my reviews, December 26, 2008

    Sucks for the $

From an industrial designer's standpoint, it's a pretty decent vacuum for the money. Let's be honest here - this is a cheap vac, I got mine from Target for $39 and I don't expect it to be as quiet, powerful, or well built as say a Dyson. I did expect this to be almost as light as my little eureka stick vac for floors and be almost as powerful as my big Bissel full sized vac on carpet and with attachments for dusting, so with one appliance I can clean my new multi-story house with carpeted stairs more easily. Well it works great as an all purpose vac.Other reviewers have pointed out some other flaws, which I do agree with, but it's understandable, given it's size/price range. It has the basic features and looks of a full sized cyclonic vacuum, only shrunken down to just a bit bigger/heavier than a stick vac. At 7 amps, it has pretty good suction when the filters are clean, but it's small size means you have to clean them more often. That means cleaning the inner hepa filter... 4/5 Phrancis - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac (Kitchen) From an industrial designer's standpoint, it's a pretty decent vacuum for the money. Not sure about it yet

Just got this vacuum today. It picks up great. Vacuumed my carpet which had already been vacuumed earlier today by my other vacuum and was surprised at how much more this vacuum picked up. But when the vacuum roller hits the rug, it makes a laboring sound. When it is not making contact with the rug, it sounds normal. Loud but normal. I'm not sure if this is the way it should sound because that means excess labor on the motor and the belts. I called the service center but they told me to bring the vacuum in. I just bought the thing. I don't want to travel miles to get it looked at in the Service Center too.It has on board tools that you attach to the hose but it doesn't come with an Extension Wand so, when you use the hose, (which is very sturdy, I must say) and have to stretch it to reach, the whole vacuum lifted up off the floor. Didn't like that either especially because there is no way to stop the brush from rotating while using the tools. Also, the... 3/5 intanet (New York) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac (Kitchen) Just got this vacuum today. Impressed!

I actually meant to buy the other Dirt Devil on this site, the Extreme Quick which got all the great reviews. I accidentally got this one instead, but when I tried it out, it worked FANTASTIC. I have a small apartment and a cat, so hair is a problem. I was amazed how much this cheap little vacuum picked up. I have a full sized Bissell that has stopped working - doesn't pick anything up any more. The only time the Dirt Devil seems louder than any other vacuum is when I'm using the hand tool. That does get rather loud. Other than that, I didn't even notice a difference in noise from the Bissell. Very easy to empty the cannister, much easier than the Bissell. I would caution first time users to stop and check how full its getting though, because this thing picks up so much crap it's real easy to go over the max fill line. If you go too far over ( like I did), you're going to have stick your hand waaaaay up in there to pull out stuff that gets lodged way at the top. That's kinda... 5/5 DC Bibliophile (Alexandria, VA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac (Kitchen) I actually meant to buy the other Dirt Devil on this site, the Extreme Quick which got all the great reviews.
